Research Abstract |
Hypoxia is suspected to be involved in the pathogenesis of acute gastric mucosal lesion in chronic respiratory disease. However, the mechanism of the pricess of the disease is not yet clearly known. In this study, we investgated the relation between hypoxia and acute gastric mucosal lesions, using the rats awake hypoxia model under acute load of 5,10, and 15% oxygen concentration. From our studies, the decrease of the defense factors were indicated to be more important than the increase of the offense factors in the formation of acute gastric mucosal lesions in the hypoxia restraint model. Therefore, it was indicated that mucosal protective drugs will be useful in the treatment of acute gastric mucosal lesion associated with chronic respiratory disease. From the studies of several free radical scavengers, it was indicated that free radicals may not play an important role, because the effects of TBA,allopurinol, and catalase were small. However, further study is needed as the ulcer index is decreased by the use of SOD.
