Research Abstract |
1. Experimentally, it was observed that regeneration following degeneration of the gastrocunemius muscle cells after rat's sciatic nerve transection. 2. In the denervated Pacinian corpuscles, experimentally and clinically, it was detected that the terminal axons disappeared, but the outer core cells existed for long time. 3. Based on the experimental and cadeveric results, free vascularized long nerve grafts and vascularized muscle transfer with a long motor nerve have been clinically developed for repair of untreatable established nerve paralysis. 4. Free vascularized split or divided muscle transfer has been also developed for one-stage reconstruction of more complicated dynamic motor function. 5. These new original operation methods seem to have a potential for reconstruction of major paralysis of spinal cord injuries.
