Research Abstract |
(1) FIELD RESEARCH The field research in the season of 1995 started on July 17th and ended on 15th September. We made architectural survey on the Doric Treasury and the Tholos, and investigated also the architectural sculpture of these building. which were preserved in the archaeological museum of Delphi. THE DORIC TREASURY : We suveyed the building remains of the treasury which is in badly preserved, muasuring every dimensions of each block, and made field drawings in acale of 1 to 20. The blocks, which were dismantled and are preserved around the treasury, were measured one by one and drawn in scale of 1 to 5. The dimensions were recorded in detail. THE THOLOS : It is very difficult to survey the Tholos because of its rounded shape. We tried photogramtric survey and took three dimensional digital data of the building, and produced out-put drawings by completely computerized system. (2) REPORT OF THE PROJECT The results of our project were reported to the Archaeological Museum of Delphi with the title "Architectural Survey of the Sanctuary of Athena Pronaia at Delphi 1995 : Preliminary Report : The Doric Treasury and the Tholos" (3) FUTURE PLAN We could not finish our survey work on these buildings. It is necessary to make measurement of the rest of the dismantled blocks of the buildings. It will take two more years to finish all the work.
