Research Abstract |
It is well known that Yunnan Province has a variety of florae which provide many kinds of chinese medicines used in cancer therapy. More recently, the taxol group derivatives have been developed for clinical use, attention was directed again to the antitumor constituents from plant origin. This project concerns to the systemic search of the antitumor active substances from the extracts of plant samples collected in the Yunnan and Suzen Provinces. Preparation of Plant Extracts Each 50 plant samples were collected in the last of June and September, 1995 and were dried in natural condition. The dried samples were extracted with 60% aqueous methanol and boiling water, respectively. The extracts were evaporated in vacuo, successively were lyophiled in toamorphous powders. Test of Antitumor Activity The antitumor activity in vitro was evaluated by cytotoxic activity against mouse leukemia P388/ADM cells and human leukemia K562/ADM cells. Inhibitory Activity against Cell Cycles The inhibitory activity against cell cycles was measured by cytoflowmetry method using mouse tsFT210 cells. Screening for BRM Activity The BRM activity was measured by a phagocytosis of mouse peritoneal macrophages in vitro. Purification and Isolation of Active Principles Purification and isolation of active principles were achieved by the use of chromatographic techniques in combination with HPLC.
