Research Abstract |
Many naturally occurring anticancer substances have been isolated from plants and marine products, and their chemical modification are tried for further strong effect and safety as medicine in various institutes. A number of these compounds are used clinical medicines. Recently, anticancer substances searched in natural resources are taken seriously not only as a killer of cancer cell but also as preventive activator against carcinogenesis. The substances having potent chemical preventive action against cancer are found in everyday our foods. We intend to search more strong anticancer substances without side effects and inclusive of a chemoprevention in Africa traditional medicines and unused natural resources. In this exploration, we have collected the plants of 15 species (Uvaria sp., Maytenus sp., ... etc.) in Kenya and Madagascar, which will be subjected to screening test for inhibition to various carcinogenesis.
