Research Abstract |
1.We set up the two themes for reserching in foreign countries ; firstly, to understand the policy of consumer protection at international level, for example UNC onsumer Protection Guidline 1985, and the movement on harmonization of consumer law in the world.Secondly, to study the legal situation of consumer law in some regions or countries in the world. 2.For reserching the first theme, we met some lawyers engaged in one of the greatest NGO,Consumer International (C I) in London, last September and we understood various contribution for implementing of the Guidline and international activites of CI.Furthermore we held a meeting with professor David Harland, University of Sydony, at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto Japan on this theme. nsumer protection and competition law, insurance law, financial services and standard form contract, we were provided many useful instruction and materials from professor Calais-Auloy in France, EC Comittee DG24, The National Swedish Board for Consumer Policies, The Consumer Ombusman in Sweden etc., . (2) In Malaysia and HongKong, we were learned leagal situation on consumer protection by professor Sothi Rachagan, University of Malaya, Pennang Office of CI,Chenease University of Hong Kong and Consumer Council in HongKong, in January 1996. 4 We are preparing now the articles on comparative study on consumer protection law on the basis of the data and material collected in our above research. But futhermore, there are tasks for us to concider as follow ; to research legal situation on consumer protection in North America include Canada and Australia, NewZealand areas. In order to fulfill our tasks, we will be able to see and to hold the meeting with professor of consumer law at York University in Canada.On the whole, results of our research will be published subsequently by us.
