Research Abstract |
This project was carried out to established the technology for the K_L-mu detector scheduled to build in 1998 at KEK B-factory. Tohoku, Tohoku-Gakuin, Osaka City and KEK groups are participating to this Collaboration work from Japan and Virginia Technology and Princeton groups from USA. Seven scientists were sent to Virginia and Princeton University to discuss and investigate the resistive plate chambers (RPC) for the KLM detector. Two scientists were sent to Pavia in Italy to attend and present our RPC results at the Inteational Conference. Through this work, we have established ; (1)material to be used for RPC is glass, (2) Freon gas R116 or 134B will be used instead of 13 B1 which is unavailable now, and (3) RPC test in high humidity atmosphere. The other items to be solved for RPC are (1) long term stability and(2) rate dependence, We are proceeding to study these items in the coming year.
