Research Abstract |
The present studies are purposed to make data analysis and summarize the obtained results in Solar Terrestrial Energy Program (STEP). The STEP projects consists of studies on i) The Sun as a Source of Energy and Disturbace ii) Energy and Mass Transfer through the Interplanetary Medium and the Magnetosphere - Ionosphere System iii) Ionosphere - Thermosphere Coupling and Response to Energy and Momentum Inputs iv) Middle Atmosphere Response to Forcing from Above and Below v) Solar Variability Effects in the Human Environment, and vi) Informatics relating to STEP. The studies in STEP are especially emphasized to clarify the mutual coupling between above mentioned regimes of researches to understand the solar-terrestrial relationships as a coplete system. To achieve the initial purpose, intimate communications between teams and individuals who have perticipated in the STEP program of the international base being conducted by SCOSTEP (Science Committee on Solar Terrestrial Physics) in ICSU have been made. In the present project perticipations of Japanese STEP scientists to COLAGE,URSI,Chappman Conference and individual discussions in the Florida University are included. The summary discussions in the STEP Steering Cmmittee in SCOSTEP is one of the most impotant meeting to achieve the present purpose.
