Research Abstract |
People have been so keen at proceeding the project of raising the brilliance of synchrotron radiation in these, say, twenty years.Its rapid growth is quite amazing.That is almost equivalent to two orders of magnitude of brilliance every three years.That number is likely going to reach almost 10^<20> in unit of brilliance.Not only pursuing this direction but also trying to develop other new property such as coherence will surely be a key to open up a new world such as x-ray holography.For that purpose more than a few laboratories such as SLAC,UCLA in US and DESY in Germany seem to start to push very hard these project.Right now there seem to exist at least two ways to develop coherent radiation sources : one is to develop storage rings and the other linacs.It is hardly possible to judge which will achieve the goal easier and quicker.It also strongly depends on the wavelength one is concerned about.In order to proceed our project in which we like to focus especially on x-ray domain we have first sent two members to Russia last summer to have surveys and further invited not only members but also cooperative researchers from overseas countries to have discussion on this issue.So far we could have exchanged a plenty of and quite fruitful results so that we will be able to evaluate what to do with this project in the near future.
