Research Abstract |
As a part of our International joint Research Program, research groups in the United Kingdom, Germany, the United States and members of the Turbulent Flow Society of Western Japan had opportunities to exchange their data and discuss matters such as momentum, heat and mass transfer. We had two work-shops to deepen our discussion during the term of the project. An International Joint Seminar on "Turbulence Management of Mass, Heat and Momentum Transfer for wall Shear Flows" was held on 6th October 1995 at the Tottori University. The purpose of the seminar was to disseminate information on the newly established turbulence management which is applicable to mechanical, heat and mass transport and the aeronautical industries. Invited speakers included Prof.B.R.Clayton and Dr.Kwing-So Choi from United Kingdom, Dr.Heiko Klick from Germany and many researchers from Japanese universities who are active in the area of turbulent shear flows. Another one-day colloquium was held on 22nd August 1995 at the University of Nattingham to dicuss techmigues in turbulence management of mass, heut and mometnum transfer for boundarylayr flows. Four researchers, Prof.Tsutomu Hayashi, Prof.Hideo Osaka, Prof.Tetuya Kawamura and Prof.Seiich Tanabe in our society, the Turbulent Flow Society of Western Japan, were invited as special lecturers and had fruitful discussions with the Faculty of Nottingham University and English researchers who are active in the area of mass, heat and momentum transfer. Prof.Kawamura also conducted a numerical simulation on turbulent boundary layr on a flat plate with small riblets in Nottingham University. Prof.Ryoji Waka also carried out an investigation into the measuring techniques of turbulent flows in Nottingham University.
