Research Abstract |
1.Sofrwares which have been already developed at Osaka University, Berlin Technical University, Chicago University and Tokyo lnstitute of Technology were collected. The softwares ware modified to be exchangeable and interchangeable each other among the institutes. 2.Conclete needs and demands of three dimensional image processing and display for clinical application by physicians of several professional fields were surveyed in Osaka Univ.and Chicago Univ.. And the priority of software development were decided as follows : (1) Orthopedics (2) Cardiovascular (3) Internal medicine (4) Neuroradiology (5) Radiation oncology (6) General surgery 3.The design of the workstation of the "higher" capability and functions and to be installed at the conter of the OSACA station were carried out. The capability and functions of the werkstations are : (a) collection and acquisition of three dimensional medical images of each patient with anatomical interpretations, from modalities such as CT and MRT, (b)

imageprocessing, filing and display of such three dimensional medical images with anatomical interpretations annotations and marks on them, (c) imtergration and operation of image processing software for the computer assisted diagnosis developed in Chicago UIniversity, and (d) dispklay of the information on the computer assisted radiology as a second opinion for the case of each patients' diagnosis. 4.The software specification to be implemented on the workstation installed at the center of the OSACA station was fixed. Items of softwares are : (a) detection software of micro-calcifications on mammography for the early diagnosis of breast concer, (b) detection software for interstitial infiltration of chest images, (c) detection software for quantitative measurement of cardiomegaly, and (d) detection software for automatic finding of abnormalities in blood vessels. 5.Other research and development of the computer assisted diagnosis were conducted. 6.Standard sprcifications of electronec filing of medical images were determined and published. 7.Application of standards for the transfer of three dimensional image data were tried, and open medical imaging workstation architectare were fixed.
