| Research Abstract |
We devised this research for the following purposes : to determine the reality of odontogenic tumors in our country, to search the development in pathology, to contribute the establishment of diagnosis and treatment, and to provide the possibility of data comparison with the Western country.
In order to achieve the purposes, representatives from Oral Surgery and Oral Pathology Department of the Whole country have been selected for taking charge of the research.
1995 :
Investigation methods have been proposed and decided. First of all, the Whole country have been divided into 6 districts (North Japan, Kanto, Chubu, Kinki, Chugoku-Shikoku, Kyushu), one or two representatives from Oral Surgery (total 7 members), and two from Oral Pathology for taken charge in pathological diagnosis.
We invvestigated the following subjects : Total numbers of cases of Odontogenic tumors have been handled for each year ; Amount of cases that were classification in diagnosis, sex, age, generated region, symptoms, treatment, prognosis etc. And the investigation was undergone with questionnaire method.
1996 :
The style of questionnaire has been decided and they were delivered to those Oral Surgery Facilities by the supervisor.
This research had been carried out from January 1986 to December 1995 as a period for ten years. Each district performed all the collection and statistic works individually, and they also non-filled in contents. Pathologic representatives made decision in those pathologically doubtful points.
1997 :
Researched results were collected from districts to the supervisor, and were undergone final statistic. The final results was been published as pamphlet and sent to those cooperated facilities in the whole country. Publication and delivery was taken in charge by the supervisor.
