Research Abstract |
The common object of this study is to compare the quality and quantity of municipal solid waste between 13 biggest cities in Japan, and propose new metropolitan solid waste management system for minimization and recycling. At the same time, every investigator studies his individual subject for this project. In common object, from 13 metropolis, Sapporo, Sendai, Tiba, Tokyo, Kawasaki, Yokohama, Nagoya, Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe, Hiroshima, Kitakyushu and Fukuoka, many data were gathered with the aid of all investigators. On the base of these data, some results were obtained. For example the amount of residential refuse collected by municipality is nearly equal between every metropolis and the difference of collected refuse quatities between every metropolis results from the folow of commercial and industrial refuse into residential refuse. The outcomes of individual subject of investigators were as follows. Dr.M.TANAKA studied the effect of economic incentive for promotion of refuse recycling, a

nd indicated that the charge of dumping fee for residential refuse has a good effect for refuse minimization. Dr.KITAWAKI studied the influence of the change of the quality and quantity of municipal refuse in near future on municipal treatment and disposal facilities, and proposed the effective countermeasures for minimization the amount of disposal refuse in metropolis. Dr.TOKAI studied the classification of municipalities in CHUBU-region from waste flow pattern by using cluster analysis and pattern classification method, and extracted the subject of solid waste management system of Nagoya-city. Dr.TAKATSUKI studied the inflow of resources and potential wastes in metropolis, and estimated the amount of flow and stock of wastes in metropolis. Dr.FRUICHI studied the structuring waste-recycling society with considering resource and environment, and elucidated a history of fundamental planning of metropolitan solid waste management. Dr.HANASHIMA studied the incombustible and bulky waste treatment facility, and showed the effect of the facility on resources recycling. Less
