Research Abstract |
(1) Circularly polarized light has been suggested as a main factor that induces homochiral amino acids. We tried to detect an absolute asymetric decomposition of amino acids by introducing helical undulator radiation. (2) We succeeded in preparing dried thin films of amino acids (Alanine, Aspartic, acid and Phenylalanine) of which thickness was determined with accuracy. (3) We obtained absorption spectra and CD spectra of ultra violet radiation light (175-250nm) on the dried films or aqueous amino acids. (4) We could not, however, detect a significant difference of asymmetrical decomposition between L- and D-type amino acid under clockwise or counterclockwise polarized lights at 205 nm, where CD-absorption difference is the highest. (5) The similar results as above were obtained for acidic solution of amino acids. (6) Absolute values of optical absorption coefficient of amino acids were determined. (7) The results of organic chemistry experiment independently curried out showed that the homochiral oligo peptides (e.g.L-L-L-L) were more stable to hydrolysis at 100゚C than the heterochiral oligo peptide (e.g.L-L-L-D). (8) These findings described here would give a valuable clue to understand the chirality formation and chemical evolution of life materials.
