Research Abstract

昨年度に引き続き、ポリアセチレンの側鎖に強誘電液晶性置換基を導入することによりポリアセチレンが有する電気的特性と側鎖の液晶性置換基が示す強誘電性を併せ持つ導電性強誘電液晶高分子(FLC)の合成を目的として光学活性な液晶基を置換基とする種々のアセチレン誘導体を合成した。これらのモノマーの重合にはロジウムおよびモリブテン錯体触媒を用いて行った。今年度からは新たにポリチオフェン系についても、チオフェンの3位にフッ素原子を有する光学活性基をつけたモノマーの合成を試み、2,5位を臭素化して縮合重合を行うことによって導電性強誘電液晶高分子の合成を行った。
得られたポリマーはIR,NMR,GPCおよび元素分析で構造の確認を行い、目的のポリマーが得られたことを確認した。さらにCD(円偏光二色性)スペクトルにより光学活性の確認を行ったところ、モノマーおよびポリマー共にCD活性が見られ、重合後も光学活性が保存されていることを確認した。
液晶相の発現についてはDSCおよび偏光顕微鏡観察により確認した。モノマーには液晶性は見られなかった一方で、ポリマーは偏光顕微鏡観察下の降温過程において、扇状構造が現れ、さらに冷却すると扇状構造の中に筋が入った破れ扇状構造が現れた。スペーサー長が10のポリマーは3のものに比べ、この温度範囲が広くなった。この強誘電性液晶相(SmC^<*:> キラルスメクティック C)相への転移に由来する破れ扇状構造の出現は二次転移であるため、DSCでは小さなエンタルピー変化が確認された。
