Research Abstract |
It is well recognized that dynamics of large space structures (LSS) are most well described by the distributed parameter system and controllers for LSS is naturally and most appropriately designed if no discretization is adopted in the course of the mathematical description of LSS.Some recent control methods for control of LSS are studied and two approaches based mainly on the works of the author are introduced for the controller design without any sacrifice of discretization and, thus, without any crucial truncation effects including the wave-absorbing control, and the Lyapunov-function control. The fundamental technology of these method is studied thoroughly especially on the aspect of experimental verification of the control methods employing model of LSS,as a prototype model followed by three dimensional truss structures. Further extensions and recommendations will follow these studies including successful experimental verifications on implementation of wave-absorbing controller for a model of flexible space stuctures in the first bending vibrations. These results are summed up in a report as a review of dynamics and control of LSS from the point of distributed parameter system.
