Research Abstract |
Thymulin activity was assessed in the serum samples of human normal subjects and patients with thymoma by means of erythrocyte rosette inhibition assay of Dardenne and Bach with minor modification. Thymulin activity in the serum of human normal subjects decreased with age. The levels of thymulin activityy in the serum of patients with thymoma were significantly higher than those of age-matched normal controls. Thymulin activity levels in the serum of patients with thymoma appeared to have no relationship to the clinical stage, histologic characteristics, and the degree of lymphocyte infiltration of thymoma or associated disease. These results suggested that it is available for screening of the diseases in thymuses to measure thymulin activity levels in the serum
