Research Abstract |
1. Expression of ErbB2 in the tumors of 26 patients with conventional osteosarcoma was evaluated. In 42% of the osteosarcomas, the tumor cells expressed ErbB2. Expression of ErbB2 was strongly correlated with early pulmonary metastasis and poor prognosis. 2. Expression of resistance-related proteins was evaluated in 60 osteosarcoma specimen. Inherent overexprssion of heat shock protein 27 is independently related to poor outcome in osteosarcoma patients. Overexpression of glutation-S-transferase pi, heat shock protein 27, and lung resistance related protein at surgery might be associated with failure of preoperative chemotherapy.
