Research Abstract |
In the process of educating students about the arts through the effective use of computers and multimedia, we would like to make the students develop good taste and understand the fine arts more deeply, as well as develop a deeper appreciation of and a more emotional relationship with works of art. And also we would like to cultivate creative and critical attitudes toward visual culture and information in the modem society. Before we attempt this, a summary and analysis of art appreciation education today is needed. In addition, our analysis of data attained from our demonstration class indicates that we need to better understand students' perceptions of visual materials. For those purposes, we researched the contents and methods of art. Developing a method to evaluate the effects of education on students' appreciation of art was a major problem and goal. In the future, we plan to investigate how students from different countries can communicate with each others about art, as well as the differences between countries in teaching art appreciation. We made efforts to construct a multimedia data base of various aspects of teaching fine arts, including the following : designing multimedia materials to teach art appreciation. developing a local area intranet for schools to share information. developing picture databases that students can use to call up examples of various categories. developing a artistic exchange program with Korea. collecting data on early childhood experiences influence artistic evaluation and expression.
