Research Abstract |
At present, a sand cushion is set onto the roof of rock-shed to decrease and to disperse the impact load due to rock falling. However, according tothe results from prototype steel weight falling tests onto the sand cushion, it was made clear that the sand cushion do not possess much absorbing and dispersing capacities against impact load and rock-sheds designed based on the impact load estimation with the empirical equation do not have much safety margin against rock falling assumed in design. Then common used rock-sheds should be taken effective counter measures to increase the safety margin. From this point of view, in this study, development and practical use of a new absorbing system envisioned with about two times absorbing capacity than that of the sand cushion, were tried. The project was composed of following research items : 1) Researches on anti-impact behavior of RC/PC members in rock-shed structures by using prototype impact tests ; 2) Researches on impact behavior of RC/PC ro

ck-sheds with two types of obsorbing system, namely sand cushion and three-layred absorbing system ; 3) In order to improve absorbing capacity of constructed rock-sheds with sand cushion against rock falling impact load, proposal of a four-layred absorbing system composed of the three-layred absorbing system and an additional sand cushion left on the roof ; 4) Investigation on the practical applicability of the four-layred absorbing system in which prototype RC and Steel rock-sheds with the four-layred absorbing system were used in steel weight falling tests. The results obtained from this project were mainly summerized as follows : 1) Impact behaviors of RC/PC members and RC/PC rock-sheds with sand cushion and/or three-layred absorbing system were made clear according to the results obtained from prototype imopact tests ; 2) According to the results on impact behavior of RC/PC rock-sheds with the two types of absorbing system (sand cushion and three-layred absorbing system) by means of three-dimensional impact analysis method, many valuable data to establish a rational anti-impact design specification for rock-shed structures were made available ; 3) It can be shown that the four-layred absorbing system proposed here to improve absorbing and dispersing capacities of constructed rock-sheds was superior to other system mechanically and economically.
