Research Abstract |
1. Development of an integrated system for examining the head position and body posture In clinical orthodontics field, the interest in the relatonship among the craniofacial morphology, jaw, head position and body posture has been increased. We thus developed an integrated system for examining the jaw, head position and body posture. By this system, head, body posture and Moire's topography of the back can be recorded in a precisely synchronized video image. Having examined the mechanical error of this system, we confirmed that it could be disregarded (Journal of the Stomatological Society, Japan, vol.62, number 3, pp.441-450). We have further adopted a sliding gauge method into this system to record the spinal curvature form. The interrelations between the spinal curve and the jaw position were examined and then we were able to recognize the correlations between them (54th Annual Meeting of Japan Orthodontic Society, 1995 and 6th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Jaw Deformities, 1996). 2. Adoption of the nasal airway resistance measurement We adopted rhinorheograph (MPR-2200, Nihon Kouden Kogyo) into this system, and verified that the mask anterior method was better than the other ones. We also confirmed some mutual relationships between the nasal airway resistance and maxillofacial morphology (54th Annual Meeting of Japan Orthodontic Society, 1995). 3. Adoption of system for analyzing the sway of the body We adopted two systems for analyzing the sway of the body. One was the system (ECG-1010, Kyowa), which was modified for available 5 min measurement, for the analysis of the sway of the center of gravity of the body. The other was the analyzing system (Inastomer PXH 128, Inaba Rubber Co., Ltd.) to record the change of the pressure distribution at the sole.
