Research Abstract |
Our research is to find the compound from natural and farm products for external application to bleach or cure skin pigmentation of the patient with melasma and senile pigmentation. The inhibitive ability of rice extract on melanogenesis was discovered in our screening system to select untimelanogenic compounds. Whole grains of rice, Oryza sative were pulverized, soaked in water, and extracted over one day at 50゚C.The extract solution was heated and filtered. the extract was enriched using an evaporator, and it was applied on various colum ahromatographies such as Sephadex G-25, MCL Gel and Kiesel Gel. Obtained fraction finally show a single peak in the high power liquid chromatography, and we named it "Isolation A" Isolation A decreased tyrosinase activity and melanogenesis in B-16 mouse melanoma cells in culture. However, it did not affect the activity of cells such as protein synthesis, which iondicates Isolation A selectively blocked the synthesis of tyrosinase protein. The extract chemical composition of Isolation A and the relationship between Isolation A and the inhibition process of melanogenesis are not known at present, and therefore more studies are required. We hope that Isolation A will be able to be applied for cosmetic or medical treatment.
