Research Abstract |
The final object of this research is to create quite a new Intelligent CASE tool which designs software automatically reusing design knowledge acquired from human designed software documents. The target is to connect the existing CASE tool with the Intelligent part for automatic design by means of their file interfaces, and to explore the possibility of the new Intelligent CASE tool concept. Following are the major results obtained ; 1.Research on foundations of design : The theoretical foundation of design has been investigated. (The resultant paper will be published in July issue of Journal of Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence.) Based on it, systems structure as well as the evaluation of Intelligent CASE tool system have been studied, and the results were published in SIG on Knowledge Based Software Engineering of IEICE.All these are quite a new idea and the concept which is advanced than conventional automatic design systems. 2.Automatic design system using Specification De

scription Language SDL : The outline was published in ICCT '96, and a research model of the essential part of automatic design system for 'Process Splitting' and 'Task insertion' have been developed. 3.Automatic design using general purpose CASE tool for Structured Design : ^*Methods for the interconnections have been studied and evaluated. The existing standardized interface for CASE tool, named DXL,was proved to be not fitted for this purpose, as it based on textual representation of the designed system while this system bases on graphic document symbols. Therefore, a private interface for a CASE tool was chosen and the further studies have been made. ^*Detailed studies on the interconnections with a CASE tool by Hitachi Chubu Software have been made. The result revealed that the amalgamation of the Intelligent part and the CASE tool is much better than the file base interconnection originally intended. ^*The integration of the Intelligent part and the CASE tool has been studied and resulted to prove the new Intelligent CASE tool concept. It is published in January meeting of SIG on Knowledge Based Software Engineering of IEICE and its demonstration was made successfully.
