Research Abstract |
In the present study, we inmvestigated the effects of advancing and receding colors from the viewpoint of the pattern of the stimulus, focusing on the brightness and the color of the line stimulus. The obtained results are as follows : i) The effects become larger with increasing the stimulus lumimance for the same colors ; ii) The repetitive Patterns of the stimuli make the effects larger : iii) For some subjects, the advancing color seems to be receding or the receding color seems advancing ; iv) The effects become the largest with the distance between the standard and comparison stimuli about 2゚ to 4゚ for the horizontal stimuli and about 1゚ to 2゚ for the vertical stimuli. The present study is closely related to the research project, grant-in aid for scientific research (1996) (Project number : 07610066).
