Research Abstract |
This research report consists of 2 parts ; that is, the research paper and the research materials. 1.Research paper : This paper deals with the legislative process of the Schoolto Work Opportunities Act of 1994, summarizes the background of the Federal educational policy and theory for promoting the partnership between schools and business or community as a national policy relation to the former Federal laws such as the Education Parthership Act, Carl D.Parkins Act ets. Then it points out that the whole structure of "School to Work Opportunities" which the Act designs has three components of the school-based learning, the work-based leaarning and the connected learning activities of both. Especially it explains summarily the processes and the models of the work-based leaarning developed nationwide. Finally it lists up cases of the school-based learning, 3 cases of the work-based leaarning and 2 cases of the integrated learning activities of both. 2.Research materials : The second part of this report includes the paper by the autuor concerning the Ohio Vocational and Career Education System and the Career Passport and its related materials. The author regards this Ohio system as one example of the integrated learning activities. The following 3 kinds of materials are the Individual Career Plans k-5, Middle School and High School. The Ohio System has a very good articulated integrated shool-to-work transition system.
