Research Abstract |
The late professor Oka Yoshitake was one of the most outstanding historians in modern Japan. He had achieved so splendid level of works not only in the fields of European and Japanese political history but in the history of international politics also. Our research program is an effort to uncover the "secret" of his historiography, so to speak, concentrating especially on the formative years of it. Needless to say, the interwar period was the most critical years for the world politics at large, and it had a decisive influence on his scholarship, we believe. One part of our efforts was oriented to arranging and cpmpiling a check-list for his collection of books and materials, as the basis for our reseach. Now the work is almost done, though the task of printing and publishing it is to be done nextyear. We also made efforts to re-read his works and analyze the special features of his historiography. Sometimes meeting together, we could find quite a few points of interest already. These points are to be elaborated in our articles in the near future.
