Research Abstract |
Decay processes of outer-most core hole in barium fluoride BaF_2, as well as in other alkali earth fluorides CaF_2 and SrF_2, are studied by means of vacuum UV photoelectric emission measurement and of photoluminescence measurement by the use of synchrotron radiation as a light source. Temperature dependences of photelectric yield spectra, luminescence spectra, and excitation spectra of the luminescence are obtained at several temperatures in these measurements, photoemission from 300K to 80K and photoluminescence from 300K to 20K. The photoelectric yield spectra are absolutely measured. From these experiments, it is revealed that there are complementary relations between the photoelectric yield and cross luminescence, and also between the photoelectric yield and STE luminescence because each of them is mutually a competing process. Similar measurements in cesium halides CsCl and CsBr are also performed, and in CsBr, an interesting phenomena that Auger free process (cross luminescence) exhibits a strong temperature dependence is observed.
