Research Abstract |
This research presents a wind resource estimation method using the computer program WASP,which was developed by Riso National Laboratory in Denmark, in combination with neural networks. The author have investigated the wind resource estimation of TAPPI wind park of Tohoku Electric Power Company using this code. However the author recognized that there were errors on wind speed estimated by WASP program, and found that the reason of error came from the case where that site was located at steep slope and the significant wind direction concentrated on that direction, where wind speed was overestimated. Particularly in Japan, wind parks are built in mountainous, rough and complex terrain whereas the wind firms are constructed on flat field in European countries and USA.So there is disagreement between estimated results and measurements of wind speed because wind generators are built on steep mountainous side and the surface roughness changes frequently. In order to make estimation more correctly, it is necessary to classify the roughness of the site properly and to compensate the over estimated wind speed due to steep slope direction. For this purpose, the author proposed the method to use neural networks to compensate the wind speed. As a result, the author found that the proposed method was useful for error correction of wind speed with neural networks.
