Research Abstract |
An aluminum-sutabilized superconductor with a high current capacity iss often used under the coexistence of the transverse ac magnetic field and the dc magnetic field. A changing transverse field produces a path of inter-strand coupling current in cross sections of the conductors. The eleectromagnetic interaction between the current and the dc field causes what is called the Hall effect, so that the coupling lossfeature is different from that of the ordinary conductor. Fron the results of of numerical calculations of the coupling losses in a model conductor on the dc field by using the three-dimensional FEM,it is elucidated that the Hall effect decreases the coupling losses. The Model conductor has the fundamental elements of the real aluminium-stabilized conductors, in addition has a simple structure.
