Research Abstract

1. New balance was made. Experiments on forward/aft-swept wings were conducted using this balance.
2. The balance was calibrated by means of multi-component calibration stand of NAL which is the only one test stand of this kind in Japan. Induced drag, which is calculated by use of the calibration results of NAL,increases as the sweptback angle increases.
3. Induced drag, which is calculated by use of the calibration results of the manufacturer of the balance, decreases as the sweptback angle increases.
4. The facts, that the load of this balance is within the lower limit range of the NAL's calibration stand and the calibration protocol of this stand has not been established since this stand started to run recently, means that the calibration results of the stand might not be very acurate.
5. The re-calibation of the balance is again going on at NAL.The final results of this experiments will be published after the re-calibration.
