Research Abstract

The purpose of this study is to make it clear that the influence of advanced technique of the rice crop growing on farmland consolidation and physical properties of soil and is to contribute to promote new technique.
We selected the farmland which is implementing direct seeding method : (1)the unplowing and well-drained paddy field in Okayama city (Okayama prefecture), (2)the ponding irrigated and well-drained paddy field in Yachiyo city (Chiba prefecture) and (3)the ponding irrigated paddy field in which shallow underdrain has constructed in Fukuroi city (Shizuoka prefecture), gathered information by hearing such as glowing strategy and the management of water, and measured the physical properties of soil in situ and in laboratoly.
As a result, the drainage was better and soil structure progressed more clearly in unplowing, well-drained or direct seeding paddy field than that to be growing in the conventional way. Also, at the investigation field, the drainage became better not only because of new growing technique but also underdrainage, then the workability of the agricultural machine improved.
In the future, we would like to make clear about the influence which the glowing technique of the new rice crop exerts on the environment, e.g. the restraint of the methane occurrence, the reduction of the applying amount with agricultural chemicals and chemical fertilizers, the diminution in the use of the machine.
