Research Abstract |
We need a new treatment of skin cancer with less side effect from a point of view of quality of life. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has less side effect because of selective therapy of cancer cells. First, the typical apoptotic phenomena in the L5178Y and HL-60 leukemia cells were observed by a fluorescence microphotometer, a TUNEL technique and the endonucleosomal cleavage with in 30min after laser irradiation. There was no signal of the endonucleosomal DNA cleavage in HMF melanoma cell. It was concluded that apoptotic cell death was dependent on the cell line even though the cells were treated by PDT in the same manner. The second, the transplanted squamous cell carcinomas on C3H/He mice were irradiated by a tunable optical parametric oscillator laser light, in the presence of several different photosensitizers. After PDT,the tumor size were measured. In the results, it was observed good anti-tumor effect in order of PH-1126>ALPcS4>Pf-II>5-ALA>ATX-70.
