Research Abstract |
We investigated whether the inner ear is under the circumstance where free radical is induced under some pathological conditions, and we got the following results. #1.Aminiglycoside derivatives can dose-dependently induce free radical at the cell membrane of outer hair cells in the guinea pig cochlea and these free raidcals are locally dismutated. #2.The blood flow of the cochlear lateral wal is regulated by nitric oxide which is produced in the endothlium of strial capillary or spiral vessel. #3.The residential macrophages were recognized on the membrane of the scala tympani. These macrophages have a possibility to protcet the inner ear by producign free radiocals against pathogens. #4.Biological response modifier (BRM) could indece the early emergence of macrophages in the inner ear which means that the inner ear can be an affected organ by artificial manner to infection process.
