Research Abstract |
The greater the size of a radicular cyst, osteoclasts directly resorb the surrounding alveolar bone of the radicular cyst. Prostaglandin E2 is one of a chemical mediator which stimulates osteoclasts. We already reported in grant-in-aid for scientific research c (1991) how the endodontic treatment effects on arachidonic acid (AA) metabolism in radicular cyst. This time, we investigated with modified and newly added method how the endodontic treatment effects on AA metabolism in radicular cyst. The samples of radicular cysts were obtained under local anesthesia before the endodontic treatment with newly developed biopsy equipments : sample A.Then certain time was gone after the endodontic treatment, the samples of the radicular cysts were obtained in same manner : sample B.Immediately we obtained the samples, primary cell culture was performed for 72 hours. And labeled with ^3H-AA for 48 hours. After that synthesis from cultured cells into medium for 3 hours and in cultured cells were assayd. As results, we could obtained the samples of radicular cysts with newly developed biopsy equipments and analyzed the AA metabolism of the cultured cells. However we established the method, there were a few cases we investigated. With more cases, compare the analysis of the sample A and sample B,the effects of endodontic treatment on AA metabolism in radicular cyst will be more definited.
