Research Abstract |
(1) trkAv and neighboring genes. We clone K^+ uptake genes, trkAv and trkHv, from marine bacterium, Vibrio alginolyticus, those functionally complement K^+ uptake deficient E.coli strains. K^+ uptake activities of those strains with trkAv and/or trkHv genes are determined. Expression of TrkAv and TrkHv were examined also. (2) mscL gene. We examined the activity of MscL in Vibrio alginolyticus. (3) nhaBv gene. We cloned nhaBv, the second Na^+/H^+ antiporter, gene from V.alginolyticus. Topological experiments were done by phoA gene fusion method. It was appeared that NhaBv has odd number transmembrane segments.
