Research Abstract |
In Kagoshima university hospital, we have developed the total hospitalinformation system named THINK,which inclued a prescription ordering system, a laboratory ordering system, a radiology ordering system and a medical material distribution management system. THINK system hasbeen operated efficintly since 1984. In this system, we can retrieve on-line drug information, the order history, the laboratory result and so on by the clinical support system. We have improved the way of the utilization of the mainframe database system and we could access the clinical and patient database by the TCP/IP protocol using the local area network, and we can easily use the relational database system by the client server system. In this time, we have analized the regional health care information using the geographical information system that was linked to the patient database at the hospital information system. We could easily analyze and understand the graphical result and presentation on the electronic map.
