Research Abstract |
The comfort of sensation is influenced by the various properties of textiles, such as surface, mechanical and air, moisture and heat transfer properties. This study tried to find the useful objective measurement, especially surface and compression properties. Sample used were cosmetic sponges, lingerie fabrics and cotton fabrics treated by a cellulase. For the measurement of compressive properties for sponges, the ball type indenter was found to be useful. Subjective evaluation of sponges were also carried out and the relationship between the subjective sensation and characteristic parameters was found. The subjective smoothness of a sponge was considered by both surface and compressive properties. The sensation of wetness and dampness was investigated by both subjective and objective measurements for lingerie fabrics. Several simulation tests were designed to produce the feeling of "moist" discomfort during wearing. The speed of moisture transmission was one of the parameter used to evaluate the clammy feeling.
