Research Abstract

This report shows tendency of recognitions and images of wild animals among Japanese people. Informations among residents in Osaka City and its suburb, residents in Kutsuki-Mura and Takashima-Cho in Shiga Prefecture, shrines of Buddhism and hunters were suneyed from questionnaire as followrs :
1. Recognitions and images of wild animals are thought to be made of the depths and the outer layr parts.
2. For example, the outer layr part among residents iin big city like Osaka are influenced by informations of wild animals in parks and zoos, mass communication and character goods etc.today.
3. And, the outer layr part among residents in areas suffering wild animal damages like Kutsuki-Mura and Takashima-Cho are influenced by their disadvantages today.
4. These outer layr parts are thought to Change in its regional nature environments and social changes from time to time.
5. However, the depths such special feeling to wild animals life and soul, avoidance of killing and eating flesh, which are suggested to be characteristic in Japanese people, are thought not to be altered largely.
6. Individually, such special feeling and attitudes are recognized in Buddhism people most keenly, and they are most weak in hunters.
