Research Abstract |
In order to promote the utilization of personal computers in the education by curriculum, we have carried out some specific trials focusing its object on the language education, particularly on English language education. These are a CAI system aiming at each training in listening, speaking and reading among the four skills in English, listening, speaking, reading, and writing. However, referring to writing (English composition), it was corresponded to only a method of which program was described with an estimated answer in the conventional manner. In this method, such defect and apt to mistake, its program is needed to revise whenever a new correct answer came out, and as a further great problem, its English compositions were supported with only a estimated wrong answer and KR (Knowledge of Result) information due to its erratum judgment. In other words, it was a from that forces to learn something mechanically. This research is to support English compositions by proposing the utilization of a translation software to make up for these defects and by embedding a translation engine which is a central part of the translation software into the CAI English training aid. By positioning the translation software as one function of the CAI training aid, learners display English typed by themselyes on the CAI learning screen as a translated Japanese against the question of English composition indicated by the CAI training aid. Learners judge whether their translated Japanese word are proper or not and repeat until optimal Japanese words are composed, then their English composition are definitely settled.
