Research Abstract |
This research has two porposes. One is to collect the social studies frameworks, curriculum guides and other teaching materials (e.g.history textbooks and juvenile books) of Japanese American studies in United States, and to translate the materials in part, because there are few accumulations of studies on Japanese American studies in Japan. Another is to investigate a significance and possibility of multicultural education in social studies through considering Japanese American studies which was practiced in United State. Concretely we analized curriculum, lesson plans, history textbooks, and juvenile books, and clarified how to teach historical and social experiences of Japanese American in elementary and secondary social studies. So we indicate that the theory and practice of Japanese American studies in U.S.is valuable as thinking model of Japanese social studies, especially history teaching in coming multicultural age.
