Research Abstract |
This research has treated the storage and exchange for multimedia educational information through network. The educational information for multimedia is utilized in school education and lifelong learning. The research has treated first what type of education is practiced and what type of multimedia information is used in the lifelong learning. Then, the research has treated next what type of the usefull multimedia information exists in the education field. Further, the research has treated what type of computer system is necessitated for utilizing the multimedia information through network. The research has also considered the problem of the use of large size multimedia files after considering the utilization of multimedia in the school education. When straging the image files, we treat a large amount of file formats. The JPEG file format is usefull in this case because of the elimination of the file capacity. In this research, a new compression method has been proposed, which has the advantage of improved compression ability compared with conventional JPEG.The proposed method can be compressed more than 10% compared with JPEG with no image distortion. The research considers not only image but also audio. There are a lot of multimedia formats, so the research has classified about 350 multimedia formats from autio to image into 12 categories in order to recognize the each format. The final result is the construction of WWW multimedia educational information database, which is utilized in the school education in the world. After then, everyone can own jointly the multimedia database every time from far access points, which is the ideal educational environment.
