Research Abstract |
The following results were obtained in the research : 1. A conceptual procedure of the production planning and scheduling in the production seat system was proposed. 2. Six basic types of the production seat were suggested. These types were classified by (i) unit of seats (time or product unit), (ii) use of common seats, and (iii) utilization of time bucket in scheduling. 3. Good features of the production seat system were considered. 4. To examine the possibility for applying the production seat system to a multi-stage flow shop, a computer simulation was carried out. As a result of the simulation, it was shown that the production seat system could predict the accurate completion date for each order and the production seat system could reduce the production lead-time. 5. To establish an optimal rule for assigning the order receipts to production seats, a mathematical model was formulated using the dynamic programming. 6. A Survey for finding production management problems was conducted by questionnaires to production control managers. Some major problems such as the integration of production and sales, diversification of product types, demand fluctuation and design change were extracted. 7. A prototype model of a production control system was developed using the data base software (dBase IV) for a personal computer.
