Research Abstract

The purpose of our research is to establish a multi-usal digital data-base with high-definition visibility of the Japanese rare art periodicals on the university museum multi-media network system installed in 1994 at the University of Tokyo.
During the term of this project, we have already digitized more than two thousands of cover images of 53 periodical titres, including major or important magazines publised between 1890s' and 1940s' such as DAINIHONN-BIJYUTU-SHINPOU,TOUYOU-KAIGA-SOUSHI,MIZUE,CHUOU-BIJYUTSU,TOUYOU-BIJYUTSU,GENNNDAI-NO-YOUGA,HOU-SUN,JABOKU,BAICHI-SHUBUN,HUJINOYA-SOUSHI,BIJYUTSU,SHIN-BIJYUTSU,ZOUKEI-BIJYUTSU,GARON & the others.
These digital images should be accompanied by text-data explanating contents of individual numbers of magazines and their philological & historiographical backgrounds in order to be useful as a systematic and scientific data-base.
