Research Abstract |
Recent behavioral genetics research shows that there are fairly high heritabilities in learning aptitudes such as general intelligence and extraversion. These results tells us the possibility that mathematic problem solving processes including social interaction between students and instructors are affected by genetic factors. This study aimed at depicting how genetic and educational factors interact in terms of similarities of identical twins. The current study includes two educational experiments. Experiment 1 : Subjects : Eight pairs of identical twins of eight grade. Procedure : The subjects participated in two-day, eight-hour-long mathematical classes which consisted from four different learning styles-individual learning, cooperative learning, correction of wrong answers, and tutorial learning with adult instructors. Twin siblings learned by these four styles separatedly. Results : Moderately high concordance was found in impressions (relaxation, tension, attainment, efficacy and so on). Experiment 2 : Subjects : Twenty pairs of twins from sixth to ninth grades. Procedure : Individual and cooperative learning styles for eight hours over two days. Natural observation of their learning behavior, blood type investigation, personality questionnair, intelligence tests were included. Results : Data are now analyzing.
