Research Abstract |
In order to recognize mechanically the malodorous air condition in the malodorous facilities, we have developed an air monitoring system, which is a potable type to easyly carry out. This report decribed that we defined the malodorous degree of the atmosphere in the malodorous facilities, such as a sewage house. Acetic acid and ammonia of malodorous substances were detected using the air monitoring system, and then the averaged values of the malodorous degrees became both 0.07 as a boundary limiting at which smell isn't felt. It was found that the data treatment is facilitated by using a computer and the automated odor sensing system can be of practical use as a recognition method for mixed malodorous gas samples.
