Research Abstract |
Tasaku Tsunoda I conducted fieldwork in the Kimberley region of Western Australia, Australia. I mainly worked on the Wanyjirra language, and collected information on its vocabulary, morphology, syntax and sociolinguistics, among others. I also recorded a 1arge number of stories, transcribed them, and checked them with a speaker In addition, I worked on the Jam language, and obtained additional on its morphology, mainly. Furthermore, regarding this area in general, I gathered anthropological and socio-historical information, such as on the kinship system, genealogies, myths, and post-contact history. Kazuto Matsumura (1) Man language data were collected in the Mid-Volga and Ural regions of Russia in the Republic Mari-El (July-August 1996, August 1997) and in the Republic of Bashkortostan (July-August 1998). (2) Electronic texts of Mari, Estonian and other Uralic languages were created for the purpose of corpus-based study of Uralic syntax. (3) In cooperation with colleagues in Moscow, sociolinguistic data on Russia's minority languages were collected and translated into English for the project "Database of Minority Languages in Russisa". Rei Fukui Fukui Rei has conducted field surveys on the phonology, accent and vocabulary of the Jeonrado and Kyeongsangdo dialects of Korean. Special attention has been paid to elucidating the boudary between dialects with pitch accent and those without it. As a result, it was found that the boudary lies across the Jeonranamdo Kwangyang-si.
