Research Abstract

Clarification of groundwater recharge mechanism in arid area, where annual precipitation is much less than potential evaporation, is very important both for hydrological science and regional groundwater development.
In order to clarify above mentioned object, the investigation was taken from February to March in last year. More than 200 groundwater samples have been taken around the whole U.A.E.
Althogh It was found that water quality evolution processes respond to regional groundwater movement very well but understanding of groundwater recharge mechanism quantitatively was left pending as the future study.
After mentioned research period, from March 10, to March 15, an unusual rainfall occered in whole U.A.E and it was expected that the chemical composition of groundwater was changed in such a case by the large volume of groundwater recharge.
Groundwater sampling from the same wells of last year's survey was carried out from March I,to March 30,1997.
Although all data and samples are not yet analyzed, the expected results are achieved.
