Research Abstract |
Researches on parallel computational mechanics begin performed in US and Europe have been investigated, and experiments on large-scale parallel computational mechanics simulations were performed using multiple computers in Japan, US and Europe through the Internet. (Investigation of Preprocessing) S. Yoshimura visited England and Germany, and investigated preprocessing for large scale parallel computational mechanics. It is found that Multilevel Recursive Spectral method and Graph-based method are promising. (Investigation of Computational Fluid Dynamics) M. Oshima visited France, Netherlands and England, and investigated recent results on parallel finite lelment LES analyses. (Investigation of Nonlinear Solid Mechanics) H. Okuda visited Canada, and investigated recent results on nonlinear parallel finite element solid analyses, especially Data parallel algorithm and Domain Decomposition Methods. (Investigation of Network Cluster Computing) T. Horie visited US, and investigated this issue. Network performance is increasingly important in parallel computational mechanics. (Parallel Finite Element Analyses in Internet) H. Okuda visited US, and performed preliminary experiments on parallel finite ele,ent analyses using computers both in Univ. of Tokyo and Georgia Institute of Tech. Then, the algorithm was improved to take into account heavy imbalance in network performance, and further experiments were performed using computers in Univ. of Tokyo, Univ. of Nagoya, Univ. of Kyoto and Georgia Tech. High CPU usage factor over 80% was attained in the experiments. Similar experiments were also performed using computers in Japan and Delft University.
