Research Abstract |
The following three issues are results of this survey. (1)The construction of data base of representative sampling data about school bullying problem in Japan. In 1996,300 classes were sampled by stratified random sampling method through nationwide level, and anonymous questionnaires were given to school students who were from 5th grade to 9th grade of public schools in Japan. This survey research is based on the first and significant representative sampling data in Japan. The data base consists of the follwing five subsets : (1)6906 school children from 5th grade to 9th grade of public schools in Japan. (2)6798 parents corresponding to the above school children. (3)2211 teachers of the above school children. (4)300 schools of the above school children. (5)300 Classes of the above school children. (2)Findings about the situations of school bullying and the generative mechanism of bullying The analysis in this survey are divided into the following 3 parts. (1)The bully/victim situations in primary school and junior high school. (2)School life and bully/victim situations (3)Family life and bully/victim situations. (3)Publication of the results The report of the above analysis was published and distributed to the educational board, school teachers, and researchers. In 1998, the further analysis will be continued and its results will be reported at the academic meetings.
