Research Abstract |
In this research, we developed the following basic technologies which are vital to implement a future ultra-high speed research network for universities. (1) Distributed computing system which enables to combine systems interconnected by a high-speed network and build a seamless system. (2) Distant learning system : Basic technologies to automate a classroom have been developed. (3) Ultra-high speed network : ATM and STM technologies have been studied and their strength and weak points have been made clear. (4) Image database system : A TV news is chosen as an example of an image database, and automatic indexing technologies have been developed. (5) Ultra-high speed router system : A parallel computer technologies have been applied to implement a ultra-high speed router system.
